The coaching and development program focus on curriculum infusion to vocational schools to assist them in minimizing the competency gap between education and work world.
SEMARANG, 3 May 2017 – PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk. (“TBIG”) launches TBIG Leading Curriculum program for Vocational High School (SMK). This CSR program in education is one of the pillars of corporate CSR initiatives.
The launching ceremony was conducted by Lie Si An, Chief of Business Support of TBIG, at the regional office of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk., in Semarang, Central Java and marked the signing of a partnership agreement between TBIG and three SMK program participants. This coaching and development program focuses on curriculum infusion to vocational schools to assist vocational secondary education providers in minimizing the competency gap between education and the world of work.
Through the Leading Curriculum Program, PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk. will share the competencies to be given to the students. The targeted schools of this program are vocational schools of office administration, electrical and stone techniques and building (civil engineering).
Lie Si An, in his opening remarks at the program launch event explained that the program is intended to improve the competence of vocational school graduates. "This program is a sharpening of the TBIG CSR program in the field of education. During this time we run “Rumah Belajar TBIG” (TBIG Learning House) by targeting teenagers dropping out of school through “kejar paket program”. This program is still running. But we want the pillars of education are more related to the industry related to our core of business. So the solution we provide can be more concrete because it is still relevant to our competence as a telecommunication infrastructure company," he explained. He furthers said that this program is also a medium of engagement for employees and partners of the company.
Lie Si An explained that the curriculum development will be conducted jointly between TBIG, through Learning Department and CSR Department with each participant of SMK program.
Separately, Herman Setya Budi, President Director of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk. affirms that TBIG's CSR is directed to implement measurable, impacting and sustainable programs. "We want a CSR program that provides solutions to our stakeholders both inside the company and outside the company. It will also increase the involvement of employees and partners in the implementation of TBIG CSR." he said.
The selection of SMK partners was conducted through three stages: secondary data research, direct site survey and face-to-face review with school management. Out of 140 schools that were listed on the secondary data, five candidates were selected for the survey and interview. From the interview results three SMK are selected for their Administration Offices, Electric (Electrical) and Construction of Stone and Building (civil) programs.
Ketiga SMK yang terpilih sebagai peserta program adalah SMK Tarcisius, Semarang (program administrasi perkantoran); SMK 45, Surabaya (program kejuruan Batu dan Bangunan/sipil); dan SMK YPM 1 Taman Sidoarjo (program kelistrikan). The three selected vocational schools (SMK) for the program partners are SMK Tarcisius - Semarang (administrative office program); SMK 45 - Surabaya (Stone and Building / civil vocational program) and SMK YPM 1 Taman Sidoarjo (electrical program).
